Documents Required in Ireland
Passports
Passports are not required by British citizens born in the United Kingdom and travelling from Britain, though photo identification will be needed. Citizens of European Union states and Switzerland may use a passport or a national identity card.
All other nationalities must carry a passport.
Visas
Citizens of the U.S.A., Canada, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, do not require a visa to visit Ireland and the UK but do not have permission to work in the UK.
Citizens of European Union States, and European Economic Area States and do not need a visa to travel or work in the UK.
Visas are required by the Nationals of the following countries:
Albania, Bulgaria, Cuba, Iran, Romania, Lebanon, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, Somalia, and Sri Lanka.
Citizens from these countries may obtain a visa from their nearest Irish Embassy or Consular office in their country of residence.
