Deer Park Hotel and Golf Course, 3 Star Hotel, Howth, Dublin

Deer Park Hotel is situated in the grounds of Howth Castle. The Castle is not open to the public as it remains a family home. Howth Castle originated sometime around 1450 and it was last added to in 1911 when Sir Edwin Lutyens built what is know as the Gaisford Tower, 450 years later.

The Rhododendron Gardens which lie immediately behind the hotel and were planted on what was originally bare hillside from 1850 onwards. There are now over 400 species and numerous hybrids. When they are in full bloom _ usually May and early June _ they make a magnificent display and thus giving a magical feel to the different walks one can take in this spectacular area.

The hotel and golf courses which first opened in 1973 was built and ran for many years by Christopher Gaisford St.Lawrence who lives at Howth Castle with his family. In the early years it was mainly golfers who came and stayed at the hotel to avail of the excellent golf facilities. Deer Park has been substantially added to and upgraded since then, and now offers facilities which meet the standards expected by national and international guests alike _ golfers, corporate clients, and families are now all welcome at Deer Park.
