Where We Are

Coast Road, Doolin

The Ballinalacken Castle Hotel Country House is located on the coast road R477, only 2,5 miles away from Doolin, a small fishing village in County Clare, on the west coast of Ireland. At a distance of 200 km from the city of Dublin, the area is known as the capital of Irish traditional music and welcomes plenty of visitors during the summer, attracted by the intense activity in pubs and bars. This country manor house stands in the Burren region, on a promontory overlooking the sea that is gifted with rocky grounds, steep cliffs and ancient ruins scattered along 300 square kilometres.

How To Reach Us

Coming by Plane
Direct flights from Dublin and other European cities arrive daily in Shannon Airport. From there, a taxi will take 45 minutes to get to Ballinalacken, while the national bus service offers trips of 2 hours and a half.

From Shannon airport take N18 in direction Ennis. Once there take the N85 to Ennistymon, and the N67 towards Lisdoonvarna. On your way, you will come across the coast road R477, turn right into it and then turn left at R479, in the direction of the Cliffs of Moher, where you will find the Ballinalacken hotel.

Coming by Car
From Dublin, you should take the M50 highway and then, the N7 towards the west. Once you get to Limerick, follow the signs to Ennis and take the N18 till you get to this city. There, take the N85 to Ennistymon, and the N67 towards Lisdoonvarna. On your way, you will come across the coast road R477, turn right into it and then turn left at R479, in the direction of the Cliffs of Moher, where you will find the Ballinalacken hotel.

An alternative route would be to take the N4 once you leave Dublin, at junction 2 get on the Motorway M4, pass a toll plaza and leave it at junction 11. When you get to a roundabout, take the second exit towards Galway, and at the following roundabout, enter the N6. Go along this highway till you pass Craughwell. Here take the first exit into the N18, in the direction of Limerick. Turn right onto N67 towards Ennistimon and keep this route up to the crossing with R477, where you must turn right. Then turn left at R479 and here you will find the hotel. (This journey will take around 3 hours and a half)

From Doolin, if you are renting a car at Doolin, the hotel is really close. Just take the R479 entering Roadford and travel approx. 2,5 miles till you get to the castle, at the crossing with coast road R477.
