By Air:
- From Knock: On leaving Knock Airport you follow signs for Knock. From Knock you follow signs for Claremorris, and from here to Ballinrobe. From Ballinrobe you follow signs to Cong, you will pass through a small village called the Neale on the way. At the end of this junction the main gates of the Castle will face you. You drive straight through these gates and the hotel is at the end of the avenue. Have a safe journey (approx) just over 1 hour.
By Car:
- From Dublin: You follow signs all the time for west (N4). Leaving Dublin heading west - 45 minutes to 1 hour later you come to a town called Kinnegad. At first roundabout follow signs for Athlone. Continue though all small towns (villages) following signs whole way for Galway. From Kinnegad to Galway approximatle 2 hours. From Galway you follow signs for Castelbar N84. This brings you to Headford then Cross. In cross you turn left for Cong. The entrance to Ashford Castle is on the left hand side before you come to the village of Cong itself...Safe journey.
Directions from Shannon to Ashford: On departing the airport follow signs to the N18 Galway. You will pass through the towns of Ennis - Gort - Oranmore. You are now on the outskirts of Galway city, at the first roundabout take the second exit. Follow signs for Castlebar - N84. (You will have to go through a number of roundabouts follow signs to Castlebar n84 on all rounabouts). When you get on the N84, it takes approx (40 mins from here to the Castle) continue on through Headford. In Headford follow signs to Cross and Cong. In Cross turn left at the church; the next village is Cong. As you drive into the village the Castle is on the left, drive through the gateway and golf course, the Castle is at the end of the drive. Approx time: 2 1/2 hours...Have a safe and pleasant journey. |
